NFL Broadcast Maps And Announcing Schedule For Week Eight

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

We're at the halfway mark for most teams, and as the World Series gets underway, Dick Stockton will continue to be your A-team PbPer with Troy Aikman. This week they get a really good matchup between the Giants and Steelers, while Nantz and Simms head to London for the Chargers and Saints. Outside of the Redskins-Lions and Ravens-Raiders, almost every game looks stellar on paper, and if you ask me this could be the best collection games we get all season.

Here's your maps and schedule thanks to the The 506 ....

NBC Sunday Night Football: No Game
ESPN Monday Night Football: Indy at Tennesssee (Mike Tirico, Ron Jaworski, Tony Kornheiser)

FOX 1pm:

RED:
Tampa Bay at Dallas - Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston, Tony Siragusa
BLUE: Washington at Detroit - Thom Brennaman, Brian Billick
GREEN: Atlanta at Philadelphia - Sam Rosen, Tim Ryan
ORANGE: Arizona at Carolina - Matt Vasgersian, Brian Baldinger
YELLOW: St. Louis at New England - Chris Rose, J.C. Pearson

FOX 4pm:

CBS:

BLUE: Kansas City at NY Jets (1pm) - Greg Gumbel, Dan Dierdorf
ORANGE: Buffalo at Miami (1pm) - Kevin Harlan, Rich Gannon
PURPLE: Oakland at Baltimore (1pm) - Ian Eagle, Solomon Wilcots

GREEN: Cleveland at Jacksonville (4pm) - Dick Enberg, Randy Cross

26 Comments:

Agreed. This should be a great weekend of games. Even better if there was no Tirico and Kornheiser.

And the 0-7 Cincinnati region continues to shrink (even Columbus doesn't have to watch them this week).

How does KC@NYJ qualify as stellar?

Where is the "Incredibly Changing Charissa Thompson" gonna be on the sidelines? I heard she was gonna be disguised as Dana Jacobsen this week.

He just says this week's games are stellar cause he doesn't have to watch a majority of them.

Did I mention how much I fuckin hate the NY is blacked out rule? There, I just did.

Are you kidding me with KC/NYJ in Minnesota? No one here gives a damn about Favre anymore, nor did many of us in the first place. Did CBS not get the memo?

Being in college in a small town in the middle of nowhere, does have it's advantages, and getting two different CBS stations is one of them. And the fact these two stations are such that they are getting two different games this week is great. I get 4 games this Sunday, two in the early afternoon and two in the late afternoon.

at least i'm not the only one bitching about the coverage.

see that patch of orange right over the state of arizona in the middle of all that red for the fox 1p game...yep, that's me getting arizona and carolina.

does anyone parlay here? i'm thinking:

washington -7.5 at detroit
baltimore -7 vs oakland
carolina -4.5 vs arizona

Romo is out this week and next. Fox needs to take stations off Bucs-Cowboys, otherwise the network will be correctly accused of "Dallas Against Anyone".

With a Lions blackout looming in Detroit I expect CBS to send Chiefs-Jets into all of Michigan.

Has Dan Fouts been removed from Enberg and Cross? I am getting the Browns/Jags and was hoping he was on the team. I think he really added something to that team.

Or that green patch over the eastern half of Michigan for CBS? Yup, that means nothing but Skins-Lions at 1:00.

Anon 6:23: CBS will still send Browns-Jaguars to Detroit, as it will be obligated to hold to its late window. Fox will likely send Buccaneers-Cowboys to Detroit, although I think they should get a better matchup out of Cardinals-Panthers.

josh: Dan Fouts is not a regular part of the Enberg-Cross team. I am not sure why he is not being used, if this list is correct, because CBS has only one college football game (from the College Football Announcing Schedule) and doesn't have enough games to bring together Fouts and Criqui.

@Anon 7:50: If the Redskins-Lions game is blacked out (very likely), there will be no 1:00 game on Fox in SE Michigan.

Oct 22, 2008, 8:16:00 PM

@w_rabb: Pennington - a Knoxville product - isn't with the Jets anymore. He's with the Fins now.

To all the other whiners - get the Sunday Ticket. It means you are no longer at the mercy of the morons at the networks. I say "moron" because only a moron would continue to force feed a bad Dallas team to most of the country.

@mal: I'm not whining. I'm a Lions fan, and a Billy Mays infomercial marathon is more entertaining than watching those bums every Sunday.

Oct 22, 2008, 10:12:00 PM

Ugh. I hope Kornheiser doesn't talk about Vince Young the entire game.

But at least VY be on the field, unlike Tom Brady.

@1228A: Be glad you're not in Northeast Pennsylvania. Next week NEPa will be stuck with Eagles-Seahawks and miss out on Cowboys-Giants.

I agree with AA. The matchups for we Utahns are stellar: Chargers/Saints in the morning, and Giants/Steelers in the afternoon. That's excellent! Titans/Colts isn't bad for a Monday nighter. If it weren't for the NFL acquiescing to MLB for a free night to rule in prime time, Giants/Steelers is so tailor-made for Sunday Night Football.
