Erin Andrews' Privacy Violated While Changing In Hotel Room

Sunday, July 19, 2009

See what happens when you take a few days off? Apparently some hotel employee takes a peephole video of America's favorite sideline reporter, and said sideline reporter has since threatened a lawsuit against the maker of the video. Both the lawyer and ESPN have made statements, and here they are....

LOS ANGELES, Calif., July 17 /PRNewswire/ — With respect to recent Internet postings of Erin Andrews, she has authorized her attorney, Marshall B. Grossman of Bingham McCutchen LLP, to issue the following statement:

“While alone in the privacy of her hotel room, Erin Andrews was surreptitiously videotaped without her knowledge or consent. She was the victim of a crime and is taking action to protect herself and help ensure that others are not similary violated in the future. Although the perpetrator or perpetrators of this criminal act have not yet been identified, when they are identified she intends to bring both civil and criminal charges against them and against anyone who has published the material. We request respect of Erin’s privacy at this time, while she and her representatives are working with the authorities.”

ESPN's statement: "Erin has been grievously wronged here. Our people and resources are in full support of her as she deals with this abhorrent act."
Obviously there's a way to download the video, but there's not a chance in hell that I'm going to promote a criminal act like this on this site. It's a flat out violation of a persons rights, and the person who filmed it should definitely be charged with assault. I hope this goes away quickly for Andrews, and hopefully anyone who gets their hands on such filth, has the decency to not give it any play.

How about making the perpetrator/pervert serve as a blocking sled before every game EA works this fall?

That's really creepy. I hope the guy gets the book thrown at him.

Well stated AA. This was a disgusting act against an innocent person and society in general.

This was the greatest day of my life when I saw the vid. Well done, creeper, well done!

How sick does this guy, I assume, look? These videos do nothing but promote things that should not be promoted. I have not looked at the video and have no plans to do it. I would rather see Erin on the sidelines.

Please, AA all indignant and righteous that ERIN'S RIGHTS WERE VIOLATED! This site is a constant reminder of the neanderthal mentality that still exists towards women who try to have a career in sports and your outrage is hypocritical and laughable.

Get over yourself with the phony outrage.

Yeah, it's creepy and illegal, but you know you watched it and would give your left nut to see EA naked.

Blogs like this exist for this very reason. Get off the soap box.

To be perfectly honest, a naked Erin Andrews was really nothing special.

On a completely different topic, is John Seibel the only person who works for ESPN Radio. Every time I listen, that unbearable lunkhead is on. Sweet Jesus my ears bleed every time he opens his mouth.

Mark and NY, agree with you guys. The "outrage" over this is annoying. D-spin's (and any blogs) self-righteous reaction screams hypocrisy. All of these guys use EA to generate page hits and now want to scream outrage?!?

If these guys were so concerned with the abuse of EA's privacy, sanctity, and general well being they wouldn't be posting this crap letting everyone know what's out there. Just as easy to keep your mouth shut (fingers off the keyboard), take the high road, and let the next guy run it. What's wrong with just not acknowledging it at all? I'd have a lot more respect for these guys if they'd have taken that road than being just another blog using whatever EA's up to to generate page hits.

How is this assault? Being really fucking creepy, yes, but assault?

Let me just say this. If this was done legally and with her consent, it might be different. However, the Porky's, if you will, way that this was done makes it look really, really creepy.

@GMoney. Haha, yeah. AA, you know there are a few crimes other than assault! I'm no lawyer, but mMethinks the civil penalties will be much worse for this guy than the criminal ones (i.e. she'll sue the crap out of him).

Saw this ages ago. Was convinced it was not her. So were most people, thus it was not big news. Very dumb idea to confirm it is genuine.

ESPN's pseud-outrage and supposed integrity is laughable. It's not cool for Andrews that this happened, but in all honestly I don't care.

By mentioning that there's a way to download the video, you are in fact promoting it.

Well said Tomahawk. I also don't get why ESPN came out and said it was her in the first place. This video's been out a while and it's debatable to even say if it's her or not. Why not keep it in-house and investigate internally and spare EA the grief of this nonsense?

Clean as a whistle that girl, killer bod, although I do prefer me a little bit of landscaping, at least...if not the full deal.

I hate to say it, but in
the male-dominated, superficial world of
sports entertainment, in 10 years, no one would want to secretly film her nude, no one would want to look at a secret film on the internet of her walking around nude, and she'll probably be "re-assigned" by her network to another job if someone just as talented and attractive but 10 years-younger comes along!

She might as well enjoy the attention now! It's a superficial
world.

The phony outrage is sort of humorous... As if we all didn't want to see EA naked... Haha...

Nice bush on her, though.
